Tyeshia “Ty” Wilson is the Director of Engagement at Philanthropy Together (a global initiative to strengthen the collective giving movement), a community organizer, trainer, consultant and a sought-after speaker and commentator on Black philanthropy, equity in philanthropy, politics, engagement and leadership. At Philanthropy Together, she leads their engagement strategy and leadership training programs (Launchpad for You/Launchpad for Hosts), and spearheads the organization’s in-person (CircleUps) and virtual events (We Give Summit and Collective Conversations) to galvanize and engage philanthropists from across the world.
Raised in Dallas, Texas, Tyeshia has a passion for people, service and empowering the community towards collective action and impact. Prior to joining Philanthropy Together, Tyeshia worked as the Assistant to the City Manager and Chief of Staff at the City of Dallas where she worked closely with city council members and senior leadership on various community engagement and strategic planning priorities, and spearheaded the creation of the city’s first community engagement division for the department of aviation. She began her career as a hospitality manager and a fundraising professional for The Salvation Army.
Serving through a multidisciplinary lens, Tyeshia is involved in numerous volunteer organizations focused on advancing equity in philanthropy, government and civic life, including Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy, Register HER, Our Vote is Our Voice, and Chair-Elect of the HERitage Giving Fund, the first Black giving circle in Texas that serves Black, women-led nonprofits serving women and girls. In 2018, she founded the Social Giving Experience, a consultancy focused on inclusive civic and community engagement strategies. She holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington and a M.S. in Public Leadership with a concentration in Nonprofit and Community Leadership from the University of North Texas at Dallas. In 2022, Tyeshia was an honoree on the annual BlackWomenGiveBack List presented by the Women's Philanthropy Institute, Black Philanthropy Month and The WISE Fund.
